We have a very dedicated catering and domestic team here at skilts and are very proud of what we do for the boys. Where we can, we like to offer opportunities for the boys to get involved and will always help if they need some time out. We believe in our boys and do all we can to help them succeed.

The food at Skilts
Every boy is catered for individually if necessary taking into account all medical and religious dietary requirements.
We believe in and support the government initiative in making sure all children eat a healthy breakfast. We pride ourselves on our breakfast provision. Our residential children have a range of choices each day, this can consist of,
Toast, Cereals, Porridge, Croissants, Fruit, Yoghurt, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Mushrooms, Tomatoes
We offer breakfast to our non-resident children each day. This is mainly cereals and milk however one day each week we will offer something different. This could be a croissant, crumpet, breakfast wrap, mini bacon roll, etc
Throughout the day
Each boy has a branded water bottle with their name on delivered each morning with fresh filtered water. This can be topped at any time. Each class has a fruit allocation each day. We are also part of the cool milk scheme to ensure each boy has a 189ml portion of milk each day. Cool milk provides us with various materials that encourage children to drink milk.
Our lunchtime menus are planned and nutritionally balanced by myself assisted by Maggie and Sue. Each menu adheres to the national government guidelines. We spend a lot of time sourcing the best, fresh local produce and keeping our menus relevant and tasty. Please take a look at our menus located under the about us section on the home page.
Our teas are planned and prepared by Maggie. She provides a range of tasty choices each evening taking into account the boy’s requests. We work alongside their evening activities tailoring the food accordingly. This may be preparing a packed tea to take offsite, a light quick tea or BBQ’s in the summer. From time to time the boys get the chance to make their own tea. Please take a look at our menus located under the about us section on the home page and click here to read our Food Policy
We are proud of the maintained cleanliness of our school. We work hard to use the right products and cleaning methods to ensure sufficient sanitation of the school. Toilets are checked and cleaned regularly throughout the day. The boy’s bedrooms and bathrooms are kept clean and tidy in order to provide a clean environment to sleep and wash in.
Headed up by Shelley we provide named p.e and swim kits for each boy which are laundered after each use. We also provide a spares uniform service. Should one of our boys need to change their uniform for whatever reason we will (if time in the school day allows) provide a temporary uniform and wash, dry and iron their own. All bedding is laundered at the end of each week or each morning if needed. Our seamstress, Sue, will as and when required carry out any repairs to uniform. All what we do in the laundry is an effort to ensure each boy go through the school day clean and comfortable.
